Understanding the connection between salvation in Jesus Christ and personal finances
Salvation and Finances…Is There Really a Connection?
by Zera & Denise Hill
Now that I have accepted Jesus Christ as my savior
what do my finances have to do with my relationship
with God? Our natural man is inclined to believe that
there is no connection, but once we accept Christ the
bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJ) “Therefore
if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things
are passed away; behold, all things have become new”.
We suffered from “stinkin thinkin” before
we invited Christ to be Lord of our lives and experienced
salvation. Now we comprehend that a paradigm shift is
needed. Maybe we could call it supernatural heart surgery,
because our thought patterns now must be trained to
line-up with God’s instructions. It’s a
process, because our natural mind has been trained,
for the majority of its life, to think like the world.
The world would have us believe that the two are mutually
exclusive (you know the old adage of church vs. state).
But once we come into the kingdom we can no longer conform
to the patterns we were taught in the world, rather
our minds must be transformed, per Romans 12:2 to what
God says in His word about our finances.
God has already devised an economic system, in His
Word, for you and me, as believers to live by. It has
absolutely nothing to do with Wall Street. It’s
called tithing, offering, and giving to the poor (see
Malachi 3:10, 2 Corinthians 9:6-8, Luke 12:33, and Acts
10: 2 & 4). Unless we are taught correctly, regarding
these principles, we will never grasp the spirit of
God’s intent for our finances.
God basically sums it up for us in Deuteronomy 8:18,
(KJ) “But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God:
for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth, that
He may establish His covenant which He sware unto thy
fathers, as it is this day”. Saving souls for
the kingdom, and spreading the good news of the gospel
takes conviction (heart), commitment (time), and our
finances (money) if we’re to make a positive,
life-changing impact in this world we live in.
The Financial Freedom in 7 Weeks Plus workbook opened
our eyes to a whole new dimension within our Christian
life. It will equip you with biblical principles and
the necessary tools you need to manage (steward) your
finances from God’s perspective. 2 Timothy 2:15
(KJ) says it this way: “Study to show thy self
approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be
ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”.
Don’t stop progressing in your Christian walk,
once you are saved. Press forward and become a good
steward who helps spread the salvation message to the
world. God’s calling all of us to help fund the
Great Commission.
