Funding the Salvation Message

Most everything we do in this life here on earth takes money, and spreading the good news of the gospel is no exception. That’s right, it takes sizable amounts of money, and other resources, to spread the salvation message.

You may be saying to yourself, “I did not realize this was one of my responsibilities as a Christian”. Our “money” is, and can be a very personal issue for us, but God never intended it to be that way. The society we live in has shaped our minds to retain (hoard), and not release the finances we earn, or inherit.

How often have you heard 1 Timothy 6:10 misquoted? It really states: For the “love of money (not money alone) is the root of all evil”. God expects you and me, as believers to fund the global spreading of His gospel. It certainly won’t be funded by those who do not believe.

So how does it happen? By following God’s principles for the use of all money which comes into our possession. Yep, you got it, we’re to give it away, not carelessly or frivolously, rather trusting God (Mal 3:10 & 12, Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse), asking Him where we’re to give our freewill offerings and sow alms to the poor, above the tithe. Good news, God wants us to take care of all of our family needs. He loves to, often, give us the desires of our hearts that far exceeds basic needs. However, He is not into greed, selfishness or waste.

God has given us a mandate, referred to in Scripture as “The Great Commission”. Matthew 28:19 & 20 (NKJ) states “Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world”.

As we do this, hearts are touched and people are open to hear about the God you and I serve. Then the door is swung wide open for us to encourage them to invite Jesus into their hearts. The Word tells us that all who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved, Romans 10:13.
