Recognizing how the words we speak
can actually put a curse on our financial picture
Words That Curse Our Finances
by Dave Shoemaker
Without even thinking about what words you actually
use in your daily talk about finances, you might be
creating an environment that causes a curse to settle
over your financial situation. In the book of James,
Chapter 3 verse 10 (NKJ), we are told that “out
of the same mouth proceeds blessing and cursing.”
The dictionary defines cursing as bringing harm or
evil on someone. If you are finding that your financial
picture is not where you want it, start really listening
to the actual words or phrases you speak.
Words or phrases such as, “We’ll never
be able to afford that”, or “I could never
make enough money to have that or go there” are
actually proclamations, from your own mouth, that put
you in line for a curse to exist over your finances.
Proverbs 12:13-14 (NKJ) reminds us that “an evil
man is enslaved by the true confession of his lips but
the righteous escapes from trouble. From the fruit of
his words a man is satisfied with good, and the work
of a man’s hands comes back to him.”
Your words are no joking matter. If you have accepted
Christ as your personal Lord and Savior you are a new
creation, and you are an heir to all that God has planned.
Refresh and overcome your mind with God’s Word,
and live out the fullness that is yours in Christ.
