Attacking the Root Cause
of Debt
by Kristi LaMontagne
Debt is the silent thief that comes upon us so quietly
that we are unaware of its presence until suddenly there
is more month than money! We are then forced to wake
up and change our paradigm in order to be free from
the bondages of debt. God’s Word says that we
are not to be condemned for being in debt (Romans 8:1)
because when we repent, or change our ways by receiving
Him as our Savior, He will forgive us and give us a
fresh start!( John 1:9)
After examining your debt situation, you will discover
one or more of the root causes by asking the following
questions:
- Do you have other gods (even money) over the one
true God? (Deut. 5:6-10)
- Have you been involved in witchcraft? ( Deut. 18:9-13)
- Do you pay your tithe on your gross income? (Mal.
3:7-10)
- Do you have known sin in your life? (John 1:9)
- Do you honor your parents? (Deut. 5:16)
- Do you hold unforgiveness towards anyone? (Mark
11:25, Romans 13:8)
- General strongholds? (2 Cor. 10:4-5)
- Sexual sin? (Prov. 5:3-14)
- Generational Curses?
These strongholds and/or curses block God’s blessings
which he intends for our lives, and they must be confessed
and removed. By seeking the Lord’s forgiveness
and being sensitive to His Holy Spirit, we will receive
the Lord’s guidance which will ultimately help
us break free from the shackles of debt. (John 8:36)
When we renounce the sin or bondage that holds us captive,
repent (turn away from our sin), and ask God to restore
us to His freedom, we can rejoice that He will give
us a road map to get out of debt and receive the His
good promises given in Mal. 3: 10-11!

strongholds, curses and other blockages, and how to
